kosmos

kosmos, aka Ryder or "kos", is an isekai/interloper into FFXVI. he's a 23 year old, binary pre-op trans guy, who uses he/him and was a gamer in his old life.
his appearance in the world of Valisthea is partially driven by Clive's decision to try to save Joshua at Origin, the ending location of the game.
this triggers a massive change in the story, causing an almost "New game+" mode, with Clive thrust back in time to just back before the battle between Shiva and titan - with two new additions: Clive knows the plot and Kosmos' appearance...someone who was never in the original story.
ryder finds himself in the world he is familiar with and grappling with a newly found power, remarkably similat to Clive's own.

together, they must try and save this world and its' people - or see it fall to Ultima...

barnabas tharmr

barnabas tharmr is the king of waloed and the dominant of Odin. in a previous timeline, he fought for Ultima against Clive, along with his egi, Sleipnir.
however, in this new timeline, he meets kosmos and finds his belief and faith in ultima is shaken. after a failed test of faith, he goes on a journey of self discovery and he ends up aligning himself with kosmos and, therefore, clive.

sleipnir harbard

sleipnir harbard is the egi of odin, a being formed from him. he's served barnabas for nearly 40 years and is incredibly obedient to him.
in this new timeline, he, somewhat reluctantly, follows his kings' commands and begins to act as the primary protector of kosmos.

jupe

Jupiter "Jupe" Arenshaw is an isekai for Forspoken! Similar to Frey, he's an arrival from earth to Athia and wears a mixture of Earth-style and Athian-style clothes. Their powers are golden and they can use this energy to speed them up, move rapidly and summon some limited hard-light weapons. For the most part, he uses swords or spears - to keep some distance.

Jupe is a huge pessimist and is bonded to "Cuff"/Susurrus (they call him 'Rus), with the knowledge that they will eventually die because of this. They literally will not survive with this bonding as they're a regular human and spend a good chunk of the story trying to find Tanta Alfrey (Frey) in Rheddah, so that she could potentially unbind them. Strangely, the infection / spread of Cuff is slower than what happened to Thalia - the only non-Tanta to have merged with Rus...

• Jupe uses they/he pronouns!
• They can have varying levels of golden bonds around them, but the minimum is some on their right forearm! (that's where cuff is rooted)
• They always have one eye covered by their hair (emo!!)
• Usually wears goth/emo style clothes cuz they are one :p

susurrus

Susurrus aka "Cuff" aka "'Rus" is a metal demon, made with magic by the Rheddah. Prior to meeting Jupe, he helped fight Athia two separate times on behalf of the Rheddah and, in his second attempt, he partially succeeded in wiping them out.
The "Break" of Athia was helped along when he was sealed within the four Tantas (guardians) and slowly drove them mad, forcing them to fight and kill their own people and twisting those left into monsters.
Though one part of him managed to escape after the future Tanta Alfrey, he was unable to beat her and was sealed within her once again. However, during an escape to Earth from the breakbeasts, he was able to split a small part of himself from Alfrey and merge with Jupe - the first person they encounter.

He has a strange relationship with Jupe, as, unlike Alfrey, they have no connection to Athia's world and his time with Alfrey has (unfortunately for him) given him a small amount of morals.
Additionally, Jupe has a much higher "bullshit tolerance metre" and they seem to understand that he's trying to manipulate them.
